Alice Awiti triumphant at the Safaricom Eldoret Golf Tour


Awiti now joins 5 different prime winners from Nanyuki, Muthaiga , Limuru, Kisumu  and Machakos for the Safaricom Golf tour Grande last in Vipingo later in August.

Nyanza Golf Club’s Alice Awiti is the winner of the  sixth leg of the Safaricom Golf tour. Awiti posted 49 factors to turn out to be the second woman golfer to win an total prize  as she emerged prime on the Edoret Leg on Saturday beating a area of 140 gamers. Playing off a handicap of 54, Awiti carded 23 factors within the first 9 and 26 on the second 9, totalling 49 factors for the victory.


She fended off the problem from Anthony Yano, Sylvia Tanui and Nilam Shah, in a four-ball event holing a birdie on the seventh, eleventh and fifteenth holes with three pars to emerge the event’s winner.


With 43 factors ,house participant Anand Lakhani was the winner within the males’s class whereas Fatma Some posted 44 factors to turn out to be second greatest on the course.


After her win, Awiti notes that, “I have always dreamt of playing  good golf but never in my imagination had I imagined I can beat a very powerful field to be crowned overall winner.  I attribute this win to my consistency especially training hard every Saturday. More importantly, I would like to thank Safaricom for giving us an opportunity to compete more frequently because with more tournaments we get to perfect our competitive edge.”

Nandi’s Lydia Jebichii was the primary woman winner having been topped  the general winner on the Nyanza Leg. Other earlier total winners are Cyprian Bundi (Nanyuki) , Leo Gitonga (Limuru) , Zain Manji (Muthaiga) and Simon Kimatu who gained at his house membership in Machakos.


The sixth leg of the tour entered its second day on Sunday with junior clinics and  juniors event.


After Eldoret, the event heads to Karen Country Club, Nairobi on May thirteenth 2022, earlier than continuing to the Nyali Golf Club on May twenty first 2022.
