Alabama Corrections Officer Missing After Transporting Murder Suspect

Authorities in Alabama are trying to find a lacking corrections officer and a homicide suspect after they left the county jail and by no means returned.

In a Facebook post shared on Friday, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office revealed Vicki White, assistant director of corrections, left the jail to move the inmate to courtroom that morning. However, neither has been seen since.

The prisoner, Casey White, was being charged with capital homicide. Although the inmate and the corrections officer share the identical final title, they don’t seem to be associated, in line with the sheriff’s workplace.

The two left the corrections facility at roughly 9:40 a.m. in a marked car that was later discovered round 11 a.m. at a shopping mall in Florence.

On Friday evening, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency issued a “Blue Alert” for the lacking officer. “Casey White is believed to be a serious threat to the corrections officer and the public,” the alert acknowledged.

Officer White reportedly informed a reserving officer that she can be transporting the inmate to courtroom for a psychological well being analysis. However, investigators later decided the inmate didn’t have a scheduled appointment on the courthouse.

“Did she assist him in escaping? That’s obviously a possibility,” stated Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton. “So we’re looking into that as one angle of the investigation — was she kidnapped en route to the courthouse and, you know, taken against her will?”

Authorities suggested folks to name 911 in the event that they see the lacking officer and homicide suspect. Casey White was described as a 38-year-old  white male with salt and pepper hair, hazel eyes, and tattoos on each arms.

Investigators are trying to find video footage which will assist them study extra details about what occurred.
